Things to note as you sew
- Do not back-stitch when sewing faux leather. Instead, leave the threads long at the beginning and at the end then tie them off neatly.
- Use a longer stitch length, between 3mm to 4mm. The shorter the stitch length, the more holes you will have in your fabric and that can weaken the seams over time.
Materials
For this project, I used:
- Faux leather; I used less than half a yard
- Matching polyester, nylon or rayon threads
- Sewing clips
- Sewing Needles for Leather
- Scissors; preferably not the one you use for the rest of your fabric
- Measuring tape/ruler
- Tailor’s chalk or fabric marker

Hi Igho, I love your website and was so inspired by your motivating statements in the about section that I shared them with my son. I agree that our lives are art and our creative energies with all of our imperfections make us the unique people that we are!🌺
I am in the process of gathering materials to make your faux leather tote bag as a gift. I want to include the pocket. However, I do not see the size and do apologize if I have overlooked it. Please provide the pocket size.
I am looking forward to creating this bag!😊
Thank you,
Ros
